Rubber Diaphragm & Silicone Diaphragm, also known as Rubber Membrane, Diaphragm Seals & Sheet, Membrane Valve. Pump Gasket, is a flexible Elastomer Rubber Membrane that seals and isolates enclosure, preventing unwanted transmission of substances between two places, which is usually used on low pressure flow control application (shut-off or throttling service), such as liquids, slurries and gases etc.
Rubber Diaphragm Materials:
Rubber Diaphragm & Membrane , which is mainly made from natural rubber or reinforced synthetic rubber like Nitrile Rubber & Buna N (NBR), EPDM, Neoprene, Silicone, FKM & fluororubber, some overmolded with plastic or metal. Rubber Diaphragm molded by rubber compression molding, rubber transfer mold, rubber injection molding or liquid silicone injection molding according to diaghragm structure designs, sizes & designs telorance demands, materials requirements etc.
Rubber Diaphragm only consist of elastomer and some are possibly reinforced with in-mold bonding of metal or plastic substrates depending on the intended use. The former, we commonly choose Silicone Rubber Compression Molding. The later, we tend to choose transfer injection molding, which is preferable for in-mold bonding metals or plastics. Of course, both of them can choose LSR injection molding, but it’s the most expensive one.

Silicone Rubber Diaphragm has a wide range of application, such as Pressure Gauge, pressure transmitter, sanitary (toilet diaphragm seal), non implantable medical devices (like diaphragm valve in ventilator), Pumps (like Breast pump diaphragm) etc, which require rubber diaphragms can be made in a wide variety of materials depending on the medium to be sealed. Common materials include Nitrile, HNBR, EPDM, Fluorocarbon, Flurosilicone Rubber (FVMQ), Neoprene and Silicone.

1. Developing & design stage, you can kindly share more ideas about your diaphragm seals, such as assembly method, function, operation environment. Send us the drawing or 3D model if you have, so that we have more understanding on your diaphragm seals and provide you more useful suggestion.
2. Diaphragm material or Diaphragm working condition, we will suggest suitable material and hardness (Shore A) based on your requirement and diaphragm configuration. For example, with undercut for design, high tensile strength property and lower hardness is required.
3. Different Mold Steel will be chosen, most compression mold we tend to choose 45# steel or 50# steel. For some complicated structure or strict tolerance, we will choose P20 Steel, 718H, S136. Rubber compression mold’s tolerance can be up to +/-0.05mm, some even up to +/-0.02mm or +/-0.03mm.
4. We will minimize the parting line for rubber diaphragm and make smooth edge with no burrs & flashing.
